Lean In: Finding Stillness with God When It's Hard

A couple of days into my fast, it already felt hard.

What it showed me was how much I love being busy and feeling productive. Busyness covers all the emotions that surface in stillness and solitude — emotions that felt big and scary at the time, and had me running straight back to old vices. Or finding new ones. 🙃 I was learning that finding stillness with God doesn't always feel peaceful at first — sometimes it feels like everything gets louder before it gets quiet.

If your own "slow down" has gotten harder instead of easier, you're not alone.

That week, I focused on two things:

1. Giving myself grace when I caught myself chasing busyness again

2. Bringing my emotions to God through reflection and prayer

I prayed the Lord would bring stillness and comfort to anyone else slowing down and leaning in. He's got you.
