Leaning into God

forest trail with sunlight

It's been a while since you've heard from me.

God has been urging me to lean in close to him this summer, slowing down and creating space to hear him clearly, intentionally and heal my heart and soul in this busy world. So what does that look like? Well this summer it looked like 8-10 of my friends coming over to my home, sharing a meal together, and then heading out to a local forest preserve to hear the voice of God and actively pray with one another.

We got to laugh together, share each others burdens and intercede for each other every night.

It has become one of the biggest blessings of my life.

Sometimes when I have felt God call me away from the doing and into just being, I'm afraid of missing out, of letting go of the dreams and joys he gave me.

Yet this experience has shown me there is joy in the waiting, there is a specific refreshment that comes with communing with the Lord and to my amazement, my friends wanted to go on this journey with me, not just for me, to support me, but because the Lord was also nudging them into this space too.

Our God is so good.

I hope you enjoy these mini devotionals that came out of my time leaning into the Lord this summer and I pray that they would encourage you to "lean in" in a new way with the Lord. This prayer group is still going, and I don't think it's ending anytime soon. But I sense the Lord shifting me into a new season — not one of solely resting, but of stepping back into ministry, changed by what this waiting has taught me. I'll share more about that soon. For now, here's what this season of surrender looked like.
